Saturday mornings are a buzz of activity at the downtown Halifax Farmer’s Market.
Over 200 vendors come to sell their wares at the oldest farmer’s market in North America. It started in 1750 and runs year-round, every Saturday from 7am to 1pm.
The products on offer can’t fail to impress – everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to delectable chocolates and handcrafted jewelery.
Set in the historic brewery – the very building where Nova Scotia’s treasured Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale was born – the atmosphere is equally fantastic.
The indoor location means the market is always on, rain or shine.
Just walking around the farmer’s market is a delight and it’s a real challenge to come out empty handed. If you’re a real market fan, it’s not hard to spend the whole morning here.
In 2009, the market is set to move to a new location at Pier 20 (1061 Marginal Road).
